Map Alaska

Alaska is the only non-contiguous state of the United States and is actually a part of the US continent. Dominant positions in Alaska's economy are the oil, natural gas, and fishery industries, which are also rich resources in which Alaska reserves.

Technically Alaska is part of the continental United States, but the state is absent from the colloquial use of the word. The state capital is Juneau, a city on the North American continent, but there is no road link with the rest of the North American highway system. Alaska is famous for its incredible terrain.
